Yesterday the Forum was held Forbes Ukraine “Energy for Business, which brought together regulators and energy market participants to discuss the problems of the Ukrainian energy sector. Among the participants were the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmyhal, Rostyslav Shurma, Deputy Head of the OP, Head of the Strategic Enterprise of Naftogaz of Ukraine“ Alexey Chernyshev and other representatives of the heat, electricity and gas production industries.
The discussions lasted about 10 hours and covered a variety of energy policy topics. Not only the issues of the heating season were discussed, but also tactical and strategic plans for energy development in Ukraine, as well as the possibility of increasing natural gas production and developing the Black Sea shelf.
Much attention was paid to the strategic plan for the development of heat supply in order to maximize decentralization and reduce emissions. The possibilities of timely replacement of the supply system for individual buildings to develop a more diversified, and as a result safer and more reliable, supply system were also discussed.
The panelists agreed that under martial law, there are challenges related to resources for the development of renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar power plants. The issue of access to credit is extremely important, requiring an adequate level of insurance coverage for insurance claims arising from military aggression.
Investors, including business representatives such as Kolvi Hub, The Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine and the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine are conducting preparatory work, namely analysis and research, exploring the possibilities of implementing projects to achieve Ukraine's energy independence. All of these initiatives are encouraging and satisfying to observe the overall prospects for the development of the heat and power industry in Ukraine.
I am grateful to Forbes for organizing this event and for the opportunity to discuss important aspects of energy policy!
