Suspension of funding for USAID projects. How this will affect Ukrainian manufacturers of heat-generating equipment.
Over the three years of Russia's unprovoked aggression against Ukraine, international and humanitarian organizations have made significant efforts to address the urgent social needs in the settlements that have suffered the destruction of critical infrastructure.
After the Russian Federation switched to an energy terror strategy, in the face of high military risks and critical timeframes for repairs, foreign donors increased the number of heat generation projects for institutions and organizations in frontline cities of Ukraine, ordering and installing equipment made in Ukraine.
Such joint projects are funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) (according to the agency, 114 mobile boilers in 14 regions were transferred as part of the energy security project), the International Committee of the Red Cross Mission in Ukraine, Sister City Partnership Associations in Ukraine and Germany, etc.
According to Kolvi, 2023 was the year when decentralized heat generation became not only a requirement of the strategy for the economical and efficient use of energy resources, but also a component of the security strategy for the country as a whole.
The production of equipment commissioned by foreign donors and manufactured by branded companies actually tripled compared to 2022 and remained stable in 2024.
These are both ready-made solutions, i.e. transportable block-modular boiler houses, and boilers only. The company noted that the priority in previous years was the restoration and modernization of heat supply in Kharkiv and Kharkiv region.
“Mostly they order equipment based on Kolvi-2000, Kolvi-3000, Kolvi-4000 boilers, respectively, with a capacity of 2 mW, 3 mW, 4 mW. Depending on the customer's configuration, several appropriate boilers can be installed in a transportable modular boiler house, such as KM-2-5000-T.”, explains Oleksandr Kroshka, CEO of Kolvi TM.
Cooperation with foreigners is a high responsibility, but at the same time it provides clarity and certainty for business operations. “The customer, of course, checks the production and the company before signing a contract and analyzes the price level. At the same time, having gained a reputation as conscientious contractors, international customers only note that we manage to complete in a much shorter time what in Germany or Italy takes 6 to 8 months to complete a full production cycle. At the same time, the speed does not affect the quality, but is cheaper.”, - Kolvi.
